European Cancer Congresses 2013

Patient Advocacy & Ethics Track 2013

The Patient Advocacy & Ethics Track at the European Cancer Congress focused on the overall theme of ‘Collaboration’.

The programme sought to involve all relevant groups on a multidisciplinary level and stimulate interactions while keeping the focus on the patients’ perspectives in all presentations and discussions. It also included educational topics for patient advocates and opportunities to share and learn from each other’s successful experiences.

The target audience for the Patient Advocacy & Ethics track was both patient advocates and health professionals from all oncology disciplines and professions that attended the Congress.

Oncopolicy Forum 2013

ECCO’s Oncopolicy Forum is an innovative platform for inspiring cancer policy debate at EU level. It brings together a multi-stakeholder audience, including patient advocates, spanning the entire oncology spectrum. The Oncopolicy Forum takes place annually, either in Brussels or during the ECCO-led multidisciplinary European Cancer Congress.

The fifth edition of the Oncopolicy Forum took up the challenge of paving the way for a more effective, coherent impact of Oncopolicy, setting up a 2-day Track during the European Cancer Congress 2013.

Key discussion points of the six interactive and lively sessions  included the new EU Research Framework Programme “Horizon 2020”, personalised medicine, rare cancers, and prioritisation of scarce resources in oncology. The well-balanced panels always included the perspectives of patients in line with ECCO’s core value of patient centricity.
