The importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the development of cancer treatments is outlined by Michael Baumann.  President of ECCO, Professor Baumann speaks about the concrete outcomes of the 2011 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress in Stockholm. Among the priorities are personalised medicine, taking the patient’s perspective, promoting oncopolicy and advancing the importance of a multidisciplinary  approach to cancer research, education, treatment and care, as well as clinical trials.

Benefits of the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress for young oncologists

Dr Duveken Fontein discusses the value of the Stockholm Congress to young oncologists. This meeting played an important role for inspiring young clinicians and offered a chance to meet and interact with leaders in the field from all disciplines. In addition, the ECCO-ESMO-ESTRO meeting provided an opportunity for younger researchers to present their work, both orally and in poster sessions.

Key benefits of the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress

Dr Karin Tamas outlines some of the key benefits to clinicians attending the Stockholm Congress.
