About the Award: The European School of Oncology’s Best Cancer Reporter Award (BCRA), established in 2006, aims to encourage high quality media coverage of cancer and to recognise journalists who have a commitment to enlightening the public about important issues surrounding the disease.
RECIPIENT: Matthew Hill
Matthew Hill, winner of this year’s award tackled an area that many working in cancer ponder, but which rarely gets a wide airing: “Is cancer money well spent?”.
He has been a BBC health correspondent in the West of England for 20 years and has reported for national BBC television and radio programmes, including Newsnight, BBC News and Panorama.
Matthew will be taking part in a European School of Oncology session, attended by a group of journalists, on service priorities and value for money. And he will be presented with his BCRA award for his thoughtful and challenging journalism.
