ESTRO Awards

This year, ESTRO will be presenting the Accuray Award, Regaud Award and the Varian Award along with presenting four Honorary Memberships.

ESTRO Honorary Members

Honorary Membership is awarded to people having made an outstanding scientific contribution in the field of oncology and to the achievement of the goals of the Society – particularly in the field of interdisciplinary or international cooperation. Nominees are located worldwide. The award is granted to specialists from other disciplines as well as professionals in radiation oncology in recognition of their dedication to fostering international co-operation.

ESTRO – Accuray Award

The ESTRO – Accuray Award is given to a radiotherapy professional for research in the field of ‘High Precision Radiotherapy’. Awardees may be qualified in the field of Clinical Radiotherapy, Radiation Physics, Radiation Technology or Radiobiology.The work presented is completed as an individual piece of research or as a thesis.

ESTRO – Regaud Award

Claudius Regaud was born in Lyon in 1870. In 1911 he described the principles of fractionation from his work on the testis and the need for quality and a multidisciplinary approach in cancer care in 1927. He introduced the principles of fractionation in clinical practice with Coutard, a good example of translational research – ‘observe and translate’ was his message.

ESTRO – Varian Award

The ESTRO – Varian Award is given to a radiotherapy professional for research in the field of radiobiology, radiation physics, clinical radiotherapy or radiation technology. The work presented is completed as an individual piece of research or as a thesis in the field of biological, physical and clinical research.
