Oncopolicy 2020
The fifth edition of the Oncopolicy Forum took up the challenge of paving the way for a more effective, coherent impact of Oncopolicy, setting up a 2-day Track during the European Cancer Congress 2013.
ECCO brought together members of the oncology community and policymakers to discuss how to navigate the complex challenges of cancer research, treatment and care and agree on ways of working together.
Through six interactive and lively sessions, the OPF2013 looked to the future, inspiring cancer policy debate amongst a multi-stakeholder audience in the view of the ‘Oncopolicy 2020’.
Key discussion points included the new EU Research Framework Programme “Horizon 2020”, personalised medicine, rare cancers, and prioritisation of scarce resources in oncology. The well-balanced panels always included the perspectives of patients, in line with ECCO’s philosophy that every cancer patient deserves the best.
ECCO invited outstanding personalities within the Oncopolicy arena to share their views and discuss key challenges head of the Oncocommunity.
More than 25 keynote speakers shared their visions and ideas, including the European Commissioner for Health Tonio Borg, former Portuguese Minister for Science Technology and Higher Education José Mariano Gago, and several representatives from the European institutions, European national health systems, patients organisations, academia and industry.
