About the Award: The SIOPE Lifetime Achievement Award is a biennial award granted to distinguished personalities from the European paediatric oncology community during the European Cancer Congress.
The winners are outstanding paediatric oncology experts, widely renowned for their dedication, ambition to surpass standards, achieve ground-breaking advances and scientific excellence in research, treatment and cure of cancer in children and adolescents.

Professor Odile Oberlin graduated from the University of Paris, and has been a paediatric oncologist since 1981. Since then, she has worked to date at the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology of Institut Gustave Roussy (Villejuif, France)..

Researcher and principal investigator in several clinical trials (currently in the ongoing studies RMS 2005, Bernie Protocol for Metastatic Soft Tissue Sarcomas and Euro-Ewing 99), Prof. Oberlin has achieved ground-breaking advances in paediatric oncology, fruitfully collaborating with international colleagues and surpassing standards through her clinical research. Her main research contributions particularly focus on soft tissue sarcoma, Ewing ‘s sarcoma, Hodgkin’s disease, rhabdomyosarcoma, and the long-term follow-up of patients during adulthood.

During her long and impressive career, Prof. Oberlin has published several scientific articles in numerous top Journals. Recognised both at  European and international level for her work and dedication, she is currently involved in several scientific groups and organisations: She is co-chairperson of the Euro-Ewing consortium, co-chairperson  of the European paediatric group for soft-tissue sarcomas (EpSSG), member of the Pediatric and Adolescent Solid Tumour Steering Committee for NCI, member of the ASCO scientific committee, associate member of COG, trained in ICH-GCP (already involved in multiple studies in paediatric oncology) and a physician within the CLCC (Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer).
