Travel Scholarships for Patient Advocates

Call for applications – Closed as of 1 June 2022

A limited number of attendance scholarships will be granted to send patient advocates representing Europe-based cancer patient groups to Vienna for the ECC2015.

Each attendance scholarship shall be worth up to a maximum of 1000 EUR and will be used solely by a patient advocate to help meet the travel and accomodation costs of his/her participation at the ECC2015. Travel must be based on economy standard rail, or apex return airfare in economy class.

Attendance Scholarship Conditions

The applicant must speak fluent English
Applicants must be a member of a not-for-profit cancer patient advocacy group based in Europe that demonstrates a charitable mission, is engaged in patient advocacy activities, and provide programmes, services, and support for people with cancer The organisation must have a non-professional membership and must not offer continuing medical education or scientific programmes for professionals (applications from scientific societies will not be eligible).
Each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
ECCO will not enter into any discussions regarding its decision
Recipients must attend either part or all of the Patient Advocacy track at the ECC2015
Recipients will pay no registration fee to attend ECC2015
Recipients are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
Recipients can make their own accommodation arrangements or can ask assistance to ECCO which will seek to fulfil requests as much as possible.
Recipients must submit a signed travel expense form to ECCO with the original receipts or proof of purchase and a copy of travel documents on the basis of which reimbursement will be made after the Congress has ended.
Applicants must hold a valid passport and necessary visas to travel to and from Vienna. It is also prudent to obtain the most appropriate travel insurance and medical assistance cover for the stay.
If an applicant receives funding for their transport costs elsewhere, they must inform ECCO at the earliest possible opportunity and immediately withdraw their application.
Upon formal acceptance of their attendance scholarship, recipients are committed to attend the Congress. In the event that the recipient is no longer able to attend the Congress, they must immediately inform ECCO. Attendance scholarships are non-transferable.
